Pcbiologist's Blog

Sir BHO

The way I see it, Obama got elected by one of two processes, each equally likely: 1. He, a Marxist/socialist (don't believe me? Look at his associations, his plan to produce a civilian defense corps suspiciously reminiscent, says Caoilfhionn of Cao's Blog, of the Hitler Youth...), got elected in the most capitalistic campaign ever. It's just that capitalism and socialism don't tend to coexist very well. 2. He's made plans for the "accidental" deaths of the entire chain of command, from POTUS to Pelosi, all the way down through the senators of Arizona (IL comes much later in the alphabet)...

A strategy distinctly out of character

Meatbrain's recent posts made me wonder...why is he using the strategy portrayed here?

 Mark 11:29-31 (NIV):

29Jesus replied, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 30John's baptism—was it from heaven, or from men? Tell me!"

 31They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'

Hm? Terry?

What gets him?

More accurately, what is it about Meatbrain's posts that gets him no comments? The three most recent posts of his that so far have none (all links open in new windows):

"The Palin pregnancy kerfuffle." Subject matter = Palin. A rare instance of no conservative blogger being targeted. Interesting. Language = no name-calling, no other vulgarity. Very interesting!

"Can't get anything past Cao." Major characteristics: Subject matter = Caoilfhionn (that's "key-lin," not "cow-lifflin"). Not unique. Language = name-calling (one instance, four adjectives); NO other vulgarity (quite rare!). The lack of swear words distinguishes this post. Let's see what else...

"Big Dog lies to his readers again." Major characteristics: Subject matter = Big Dog. Definitely not unique. Language = name-calling (two instances, the second "Dogs***"); no other vulgarity, unless you count the coinage.

 "No end to Raven's ignorance." Major characteristics: Subject matter = Raven (another conservative blogger, many of whom populate the targets of Meatbrain's other posts). Language = name-calling (four instances, counting the "wingnut" lobbed at the end); vulgarity: nothing! We may be on to something!

 The moral? The mean, clean Meaty gets no response. When he adds such colorful items as "f***ing" or even "bulls*** ", comments spring up like grass...moderated grass. Yes, he'll likely blast me for not considering ALL the evidence...but, as they say, if one waited until we understood and documented EVERY electron in the universe before drawing conclusions about quantum physics, we would still be, shall we say, living in the dark ages.

Comment war? Bring it on!

Inkspector's Minicity

In case you haven't been over at Inkspector's blog, do so, especially this post (new window). Help her increase the population of her MiniCity, Stamphenge, improve the industry , and more (population as of this post's writing is only 76, so the other city functions aren't applicable yet).

Documentation of a fallacy

I was asked months ago by a persecuted bloggeress to visit Thinking Meat to find out how many posts were specifically directed at her. Though this would take a rather long search of the archives, I list below a sampling. Meatbrain's total number of posts so far (as of today) is 640. A search for the bloggers "Cao," "Big Dog," "Gribbit," and "Raven" (to name only four Meatbrain has blogged against) yields the following:

Cao: ** posts, or **%

Big Dog: ** posts, or **%

Gribbit: ** posts, or **%

Raven: ** posts, or **%

Total (FOR THESE FOUR ONLY): ** posts, or **%

UPDATE: Search results returned 10 for each term. However, there is no listing of page 1, page 2, etc. Lest you think me as an incompetent moron (which label Meaty has already applied to me, much to my amusement), let us give him/her the benefit of the doubt. Ad-hominem is never a good policy.

Dedicated to a liberal

This post tells you everything you could want to know about Meatbrain, a "Terry Bisson look-alike" according to some, a blogger who has banned me for the high crime of commenting in German. I will not call him names.

Access his blog entertainingly via The Dialectizer. I keep tabs this way.

His blog's reading level is college (postgrad). This surprised me, seeing as it was only high-school level a few weeks ago. He's quoting conservative blogs a lot, which could affect it (smirk).

His blog is approximately 16.8% swear words up to and including the F-bomb, off the charts, as of the writing of this post.

His blog is worth $11,855.34 as of 9PM CST.

Last but not least, his favorite pastime is to pick on conservative blogs. He hasn't gotten around to me yet, thankfully.

It's a bit early for the monthly post, but...

LadyG has the Snakes and Ladders series going, so, in a daring feat of near-plagiarism, may I begin a variant? My only stipulation is that the first sentence must begin with "biology" - and each sentence must be about biology. Apologies for any traffic taken away from said LadyG.

Identity

It may be a bit early for the monthly post, but here goes. As you may see from the "Banned from" list at right, a few liberal blog(ger)s are, shall we say, ticked off at me. Below are the usernames I have used (time to get them out eventually), in no particular order; many are based on the names and attributes they have stuck on me in ancient comments.

 The Chief Wingnut

Qwerty (which has led the admin to make unwarranted assumptions about my gender, for whatever reason)

The Wingnut Grammarian

The Disabled Mandroid

Moron

 Have I ever called a fellow blogger a name? Granted, I may get quite angry in front of the computer screen and mumble somewhat filthy language, but I never let it get past my fingers.

Rant! haha

Time for the monthly post. Being a fairly far-right conservative on a multitude of issues, I entered the blogosphere about a year ago with a small amount of trepidation. I don't visit all that many liberal blogs, but, for whatever reason (commenting in German, perhaps), the authors view me with disdain. While some of them are merely content with dissecting my comments and applying their liberal logic, others become more annoyed than that. Hence the list at the right, "Banned from..." - granted, the ban has lasted generally only a week or two, but Thinking Meat went so far as to ban the entire set of IP addresses of my current school. Today I was able to access his/her blog from home again, but not the comments pages of any posts. Sneaky! Should I reveal my commenting pseudonym? Not yet - perhaps next month.

Post for the sake of posting

I've been shockingly neglectful of regular posting on this blog. Unlike The Renaissance Biologist , I post something like once a month, rather than once a day as she does. My apologies. Caoilfhionn hasn't posted in a while either; however, she maintains other blogs. Google 'em.

One of my characteristics :-)

I work in the writing/reading center of my current college; although they've tried to train me otherwise, I have the reputation of the *duty* described in the badge below (if you can't see it, the link is here).

The badge...bwahaha

Strange verses

Item one: Random word I thought of. Thespionage. Is this the undercover slaying of actors/actresses by nefarious parties?

Item two: Guess where the following passage is from. Whoever gets it right will probably get linked to my blog. Dante's Purgatorio, canto XV, lines 1-15, trans. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

 As much as 'twixt the close of the third hour

And dawn of day appeareth of that sphere

Which aye in fashion of a child is playing,

So much it now appeared, towards the night,

Was of his course remaining to the sun;

There it was evening, and 'twas midnight here;

And the rays smote the middle of our faces,

Because by us the mount was so encircled,

That straight towards the west we now were going;

When I perceived my forehead overpowerd

Beneath the splendor far more than at first,

And stupor were to me the things unknown;

Whereat towards the summit of my brow

I raised my hands, and made myself the visor

Which the excessive glare diminishes.

Item three: a very poetic (in an odd political way) photo. This is not me but I wish it were.

Oops

The title of this blog is a wee bit misleading. The "pc" part normally stands for "politically correct ." I am the antithesis. Too lazy to change it now...

 Well, actually, I do want change in certain areas of society - less persecution of Christians by such organizations as the ACLU, for one. Fill in the blank. _____________

Intro post

This is my second blog. As such it will have secondary importance; I probably won't post on this much, except news items and random stuff. I am an LCMS Lutheran, conservative, and a pretty nutty aspiring biologist. Having several Muslim friends, I endeavor to show them the benefits of Christianity. If you want to go diatribe-happy in your comments, by all means go ahead. Just be warned that I will make a snarky comeback. (how I do love that word snarky! not a fake word either) Hang tight for seemingly random, biological, religious, and political posts.
